Working Border Collies

At Aurora Ranch, we are dedicated to breeding classic working Border Collies.

The Border Collie was developed to herd sheep in the hilly border country between Scotland and England. A well balanced, medium-sized dog, the Border Collie is highly intelligent, biddable, usually easily trained, eager to please, quick to respond, athletic and energetic. An instinctive herder, the Border Collie is able to gather and control livestock smoothly and effortlessly.

The Border Collie is a great companion and tireless working partner, averaging 18 to 22 inches high at the shoulder and weighing 30-45 lbs (males) and 27-42 lbs (females). Their rough or smooth coats can be black and white, tricolor (black, white and tan), red, red merle or blue merle. For hundreds of years, the Border Collie has been bred to work livestock, particularly sheep. The appearance of the dog is irrelevant. They are indispensable to shepherds around the world.

We offer Handler/Dog Training Lessons and Herding Demonstrations. To inquire about the availability of a pup, make an appointment for a training session or arrange for a herding demonstration, contact us at kateandgeorge@auroraranch.com.
